Types of Water Damage

There are several categories of water based on the level of contamination present in the water. The category of water present will determine what steps will be necessary for cleanup and restoration.

Category 1 water from a sanitary source, such as a broken water supply line.

Category 2 water, or grey water, and this type of water could cause illness if ingested. This would include dishwasher or washing machine overflows and drain water.

Category 3, or black, is the most heavily contaminated water, and can cause severe illness or even death if ingested. Examples of Category 3 water includes sewage, floodwaters, and water that has bacterial growth.
